About Jodi Ohl

Meet Your Instructor

Jodi Ohl is a best-selling author, award-winning mixed media artist, and creative instructor, originally from Dunkirk, NY, who now resides in Aberdeen, NC. Having left her day job in 2011 to pursue her artistic career full time, she has built a body of work that is known for its distinctive texture, bold color combinations which are often whimsical or abstract compositions, as well as motivational in nature. Jodi’s best-selling book, “Abstracts in Acrylic and Ink” was released by North Light Books in late 2016. Her love of color, texture and playful compositions are evident in the various lines of art she creates and teaches to other aspiring artists. Combining her approachable teaching and writing style, her book: Abstract in Acrylic and Ink, is much like having a seat next to the artist at one of her popular workshops.

FAQ

  • How long will I have access to the workshop?

    While we do not offer lifetime classes, we do assure students that they will have at least 5 years of access barring any unforeseen circumstances for our FULL-Length workshops (5 hours or more).

  • Can we download the videos?

    Videos are not downloadable. You may stream them in the classroom at any time so you may work at your convenience.

  • What type of course content can we expect?

    Pre-recorded videos (over 6 hours). PDFs and other written content throughout the course. Private membership group for students to share work, ask questions, and encourage others. For those that sign up at the initial launch, you will also be invited to group video calls/demonstrations after key chapters in the course. Students joining in the evergreen version of the workshop will have access to pre-recorded sessions to those calls.

  • What type of supplies will be needed?

    The full supply list is available to registered students. Students can expect to use mixed media paper, canvas, and wood for their surfaces. We will be using acrylic paint, matte medium, glazing medium, gesso, and modeling paste. You will also need something to paint with, brushes, scrapers, palette knives, and brayers. Drawing tools-Derwent Inktense pencils, stabilo graphite, pastels, are just a few common supplies we will be using in the course.

  • What skill level is needed for this course?

    Some acrylic and or abstract painting background is helpful but not required. If you need a refresher course or are a beginner, we suggest you take Absolutely Abstracts first. Students should have a basic understanding of computer and online class navigation.

  • How much instructor interaction can we expect?

    To get the most benefit from instructor interaction, we encourage students to sign up during the Pre-Launch (on or before January 10th, 2022). The instructor will be available for questions & comments during the first 10 weeks on a regular basis. Scheduled office hours will be posted for online Q&A time via our membership group on Facebook. In addition, students will also be invited to 5 LIVE Zoom classes during the initial launch. Students who sign up after the initial launch will have access to all pre-recorded videos, zoom calls, and membership in our private group. The instructor will be available on an ongoing basis but a more limited amount after the initial launch of this workshop (or re-launch if we host another live session).

  • Is closed captioning available for this course?
