Jodi Ohl


Jodi Ohl is a contemporary artist, author, and instructor celebrated for her vibrant abstract and whimsical mixed-media creations. After leaving a career in banking in 2011, she dedicated herself fully to art, building a reputation for her bold use of color and intuitive, experimental techniques. Based in Aberdeen, NC, Jodi works from her home studio and travels extensively to lead workshops and retreats, inspiring students to embrace creativity and explore the possibilities of abstract art.

Her work has been showcased in galleries, exhibitions, and publications and is sought after by collectors worldwide. Jodi’s first book, Abstracts in Acrylic and Ink, is a best-seller, and she is currently developing a follow-up book, set for release in 2025. Through her art and teaching, Jodi encourages others to find their voice and joy in the creative process.

What Can I Expect During Intro to Abstract Composition?

  • Whether you are new to abstract painting or someone who would love to be reinspired by different techniques, this mini course will help you discover the many joys of abstract painting

  • Students will learn how to use a limited palette to create an abstract painting that focuses on a few key principles that can elevate your art. These are tried and true techniques along with some warm ups to get you started. Jodi will be working on 12x12 or similar sized paintings during the 4 hour workshop

  • Students who attend the live class have the option to work along with me or just listen and take notes and ask questions. We will provide a handout just prior to the event and a supply list shortly after the students register.

  • BONUS-Students will receive a special discount valid for our upcoming workshop, "Abstract Interactive, Volume 2", which is set to be released in the summer of 2025.

  • Note-this workshop will be a live event on February 27th from 11-3 PM EST. The final upload for students who purchase now will be available approx 48-72 hours. Should there be any issues with the recording, we will hold an alternate date on March 3rd. If we sell out and there's enough interest in a 2nd event, we may add additional dates, the first of which would be March 3rd, 2025.
